Notre-Dame Cathedral
At 142 metres tall, Strasbourg’s Notre-Dame Cathedral was long the tallest Christian building in the world. Its pink sandstone lace stands out against the Alsatian sky, and its famous astronomical clock, set in motion each noon by a parade of automatons, still draws a crowd. Together you climb the 332 steps to the platform to embrace the city and the plain all the way to the Black Forest.
Petite France and the Covered Bridges
Once home to tanners, fishermen and millers, Petite France aligns its half-timbered houses along the arms of the Ill. You cross the Covered Bridges, a necklace of medieval bridges and towers, before climbing the Vauban Dam terrace for an open view over the whole scene. A romantic Strasbourg classic: simple yet always a success for a date together.
Place Kléber and the cafés
Vast and mineral, Place Kléber hosts markets, concerts and the giant Christmas tree in December. Nearby lanes lead to more intimate corners like Place du Marché Gayot, surrounded by restaurants and open-air bars. You order a tarte flambée and a glass of edelzwicker. On Lyad, Strasbourg members share their favourites; it is up to you to discover one together.
